Beverly Biancur recently completed her 17th season as head women’s soccer coach at North Carolina Wesleyan University (NCWU). A graduate of Radford University, Biancur brings nearly 30 years of coaching experience spanning collegiate, high school, and club levels.
Since joining NCWU in 2007, Biancur has significantly enhanced the Bishops' recruiting efforts. Her most successful season came in 2014, when she led the team to a 10-6-3 overall record and guided them to their first USA South semifinal appearance in over a decade. She matched that success in 2016, leading the team to another 10-win season, including a tenure-best nine USA South victories. Beyond her coaching success on the field, Biancur has spearheaded the team’s international soccer tours in 2010, 2015, 2018, and 2022, with plans to travel to Italy and Greece in May 2025.
“It is my personal belief that recruiting, player development, and student-athlete academic success are the groundwork to building a successful intercollegiate women’s soccer program,” Biancur stated.
Biancur’s diverse coaching career includes roles at three colleges, three high schools, and over twenty club teams, six of which competed internationally. Prior to her tenure at NCWU, she served as an assistant coach at Roanoke College in Virginia for three years and as head coach for the Roanoke Star U17/18 and U15 premier teams. Earlier in her career, she spent four years as a graduate assistant for the women’s soccer program at Virginia Tech.
A standout collegiate player at Radford, Biancur earned her degree in Sports Medicine in 1987. She later achieved National Athletic Trainer Certification in 2004 and has obtained several coaching certifications, including an NSCAA National Diploma (1999), Advanced National Diploma (2000), and Premier Diploma (2003). Biancur also holds a master’s degree in Exercise Science and a master’s in Psychology. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in Sports Psychology.
Educationally, Biancur has instructed courses for the American Red Cross, National Parks and Recreation, and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), where she serves as an associate national staff member. At NCWU, she teaches health and safety courses and is an adjunct faculty member in the Exercise Science program. In addition to her coaching responsibilities, Biancur coordinates the strength and conditioning efforts for all of Wesleyan’s female athletes.
Since 2019, Biancur has produced 20 USA South All-Conference selections, including Eden Whiteside, who earned First Team All-League honors in 2024. Biancur was also on the NCAA national ranking committee for four years. “It is an honor to continue building on the strong tradition of Bishop soccer, as well as helping to improve the quality of women’s athletics as a whole,” Biancur remarked.
