BEREA, Ky. - Senior Guard Chris Braswell's six 3-pointers and 30 total points helped the Battling Bishop men's basketball team outlast Berea College 92-83 in their conference opener on the road Saturday afternoon.

NC Wesleyan was led on the day by 69 points from three players: Braswell, junior center A.J. Frye, and sophomore guard Damon McDowell while Wesleyan's starting five totaled 84 of the team's 92 points on the day.

Frye's big double-double of 24 points and 14 rebounds down in the post along with the perimeter shooting of Braswell helped the Bishops begin 1-0 in conference play and 6-1 overall. Frye also had 3 assists and a block while senior forward Robert Wilson also added 9 points and 9 rebounds with 3 assists.

Braswell would score 20 of his game-high 30 points in the first half as the Bishops shot 61 percent from behind the 3-point arc and 46 percent overall in the first half en route to a 43-38 advantage.

The men would then keep up their hot shooting by going 66 percent in the second half overall while adding 11 free throws to take the half 49-45. McDowell also had a good game scoring 15 points with 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal while Braswell would finish with 6 boards, 5 assists and 2 steals in the win.

The final member of the starting five, junior forward Ricardo Bullock, also had a nice all-around game scoring 6 points with 6 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 blocks and a steal while guard Cameron Martin also added 6 points off the bench.

Berea falls to 6-4 overall and 1-2 in league play.

The men are back in action again on Tuesday when they return home to host Huntingdon College (Ala.) at 1 PM in conference action.
