MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College men's basketball team suffered their first conference loss of the season on Friday afternoon as they fell 94-71 on the road at Pfeiffer University.

Wesleyan got out to a quick 8-1 lead over the first few minutes of action and would keep the 7-point cushion to lead 16-9 at the 14-minute mark. However, Pfeiffer began to chip away going on a 32-12 run to take a 41-28 lead with 5 and half minutes to play in the first half.

Pfeiffer would eventually lead 50-36 at the break shooting nearly 53 percent from three-point range. the Falcons made nine more threes than the Bishops making up the difference in the half.

The second half then saw the Bishops get to within 10 points, but could get no closer shooting just 39 percent in the half while Pfeiffer again shot 53 percent to take it 44-35. Pfeiffer improves to 3-0 in the USA South. Wesleyan falls to 8-4 overall and 5-1 in the conference.

Reigning Player of the Week Damon McDowell led the Bishops with 22 points along with 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal. Junior forward Isaiah Lewis also led the Bishops in rebounds with 7 while scoring 10 points with a block.

Sophomore guard Brayden Dixon then added a season-high 12 points off the bench along with a team-best 3 assists while fellow sophomore Tim Pettiford was the final member to score in double-figures with 10 points.

Freshman guard Khalid Chavis-Hinds contributed 9 points as well while freshman forward Kyron Kelly brought down a season-high 7 rebounds and scored 4 points.

Wesleyan will return to action on Sunday when they come home to host Pfeiffer at 2 PM.
