Game Recap: Volleyball |

Volleyball Falls to Meredith in Five Sets

Rocky Mount, NC - The N.C. Wesleyan volleyball team fell just short in a tenacious battle with the Avenging Angels of Meredith. Wesleyan would get out to a 1-0 advantage winning the first set 25-23, and winning the fourth set after scoring eight straight points by way of Sloan Martin's tremendous serves. As a team, the Battling Bishops put up 51 kills and 63 digs on the evening as one of the best overall outings by Wesleyan this season.

Sloan Martin would absolutely dominate in every aspect of the game, leading the team in kills, aces, and digs. Her 16 kills against Meredith was only the second time this season she surpassed 15 in a single game, the only other time coming against Southern Virginia back on September 30th.

Game Notes:
  • Senior Desiree Walker would tie a season high of three blocks on the evening, ironically the other time coming against the Angels earlier in the year in Raleigh.
  • Freshman Grace Bestler's eleven kills would be the sixth time she has surpassed the double-digit mark this season, continuing her impressive rookie campaign.

Up Next:
  • The Battling Bishops will travel to Salem on Saturday for a tri-match where they square off with Salem College and Carolina University.
