Winston Salem, NC - The N.C. Wesleyan volleyball team competed in a tri-match at Salem College on Saturday, falling to Salem 3-0, and Carolina University 3-2. In the first match against the Spirits,
Sloan Martin would lead the Battling Bishops in kills and assists, recording a double-double in both categories. Her kills would come up big as Wesleyan would force "free volleyball" in the first set, with Wesleyan falling 26-24.
Freshman
Grace Bestler would have a team high two aces, contributing to the Bishop's 40 total points for the match and continuing her outstanding rookie campaign.
In the second match of the day which turned into a scrappy fifth set showdown, the Bishops would fall short by two points in the final set. Freshman Aajah Vasquez would lead the team with ten kills and Ludy Borges would play a strong front line with three outstanding blocks. While it was not enough for a victory, Wesleyan fought until the very end and showed tremendous passion in the 25-18 fourth set victory.
