Volleyball Drops Pair of Matches at Southern Virginia

Buena Vista, VA  - In a fiercely contested doubleheader, the North Carolina Wesleyan Battling Bishops' volleyball team ultimately succumbed to both Southern Virginia and Brevard.

**Game 1: Wesleyan vs. Southern Virginia (1-3):  In the opening match, Wesleyan faced a formidable opponent in Southern Virginia, losing with a final score of 3-1. Senior standout Sloan Martin spearheaded the offensive effort, leading the team with an impressive 7 kills. The defensive front, led by promising freshmen Aajah Vasquez and Grace Bestler, managed to deliver a commendable four blocks collectively, with each contributing two. Setting the stage for the offense, McKenzie Norris dished out 13 assists, displaying remarkable finesse and precision. What set Wesleyan apart in this match was their formidable frontline defense, which has been a strong point for Bishops this season.

**Game 2: Wesleyan vs. Brevard (0-3):  In the second match, the Battling Bishops faced a resilient Brevard squad and fought valiantly but fell short with a final score of 3-0. Once again, Sloan Martin showcased her prowess, leading the team with a remarkable nine kills. Aajah Vasquez proved her versatility, contributing three serving aces that kept Wesleyan in contention. The team's defensive effort was bolstered by Hailey Davenport, who managed an impressive 20 digs. As a unit, Wesleyan collectively secured 67 digs in the match, only five fever than the Tornadoes.
