Men's Soccer Improves to 2-0 in Conference Play with Victory of WPU

Rocky Mount, NC - The N.C. Wesleyan men's soccer team defeated the Pacers of William Peace on Wednesday to improve to 2-0 in conference action. The Battling Bishops would get out to an early lead with a big goal from Pierre Leo (1) in the 20th minute to put the pressure on the Pacers. To continue the wild seventeen minute stretch that saw three goals, Tiago Feler (5) would end up scoring the game winner in the 37th minute. In the second half, the Battling Bishop's defense would keep the ball after from the net and forced Peace into a total of seven shots on the entire day. The Bishops also kept the contest tied in the second half due to tremendous ball pressure.

Game Notes:
  • Rafael Farina would be outstanding in goal coming up with five key saves, only allowing a goal on an unfortunate break. He has been a driving force behind the Bishops 2-0 start in conference.
  • With the victory, Wesleyan gets some cushion at the top to kick league play off. The program currently holds a two point lead over SVU and Brevard.

Next Up: 
  • Wesleyan will have compete in a massive game on Saturday at SVU. Kick-off is slated for 4:00.
