Rocky Mount, NC - The N.C. Wesleyan football program fell in its homer opener to nationally ranked Randolph-Macon 51-9. In the first quarter, the Bishops defense was able to get the Jackets to punt on their first possession of the game and had a great goal line stand early on as well.
Quaterback
Zachary Marquis came in for
Chaz Hirschman and gave the Wesleyan offense life splitting the third quarter with RMC 6-6. On the afternoon, Marquis had a QB rating of 123, while throwing for 155 yards at a 60% clip.
He was also able to find wideout
Deondre Hill six times for a total of 63 yards, including a ball downfield that Hill made a spectacular catch on falling down. Hill's explosiveness off the line and ability to get himself open caused the Jackets major problems in the second half.
On the defensive side of the ball, DB
Ronechie Carter led the Bishops in tackles with a total of 10 and doubled the number of his teammates.
Wesleyan falls to 0-1 on the season and will face Ferrum for footballs first road game of the season.
