Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Wesleyan Falls to LaGrange in 3-2 Thriller

Rocky Mount, NC  - The N.C. Wesleyan women's soccer team came up just short against LaGrange on Saturday afternoon in a nail-biter. The Bishops were able to outshoot the Panthers 7-5 in the first half and came up with an incredible nine saves on goal. The contest came down to the final seconds with Wesleyan not being able to capitalize on many goal scoring opportunities including a late miss off the crossbar.

Eden Whiteside and Samantha Dell led the way in shots on goal with three and were followed by Makayla Stokes who had two of her own.

The first goal of the 2023 campaign was scored by Mia Scherber in the 35th minute on a fantastic move to get by multiple defenders. Caitlyn Butler also recorded her first goal of the season at the 58 minute mark to tie the score at 2-2.

Unfortunately, a late goal by LaGrange would be too much to overcome for the Lady Bishops as they drop to 0-2.

Women's soccer will return to action on Friday as they head to Eastern Mennonite for their first road contest of the year. Kickoff time is scheduled for 4 pm.
