Volleyball Triumphs Over Mary Baldwin 3-1

Rocky Mount, NC - The N.C. Wesleyan volleyball team secured a solid 3-1 victory against Mary Baldwin on Wednesday, marking its second conference win of the 2024 season. The Bishops dominated across all facets of the game, highlighted by a season-high fourteen service aces, five of which came from libero Jadyn Smith.

Defensively, the Bishops were outstanding up front, racking up seven blocks, with Aajah Vasquez leading the charge with an impressive six blocks. Vasquez also unstoppable on offense, notching eleven kills to further bolster the front line.

Super Senior Sloan Martin delivered a phenomenal performance, leading the team with eleven kills and nineteen assists while also recording eleven digs in the four-set match. Senior Josie Bravo added a season-high twelve digs, controlling a solid back row, while freshman Shay Lunsford contributed eleven assists. Freshman Brooklynn Covic out of Brunswick, Ohio, also came up with a big eight kills in the huge victory.

Volleyball will welcome Salem inside Everett Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon at 12:00 for Senior Day, as the program honors Hannah Byrd and Josie Bravo.
