Buena Vista, VA -The N.C. Wesleyan football team secured its second victory of the 2024 season with an exhilarating 34-31 win on the road against Southern Virginia. The game kicked off with a bang, as Kiami McKnight returned the opening kickoff for a stunning 93-yard touchdown, setting the tone for the Bishops.

Following McKnight's electrifying start, kicker Braxtyn Green extended the lead to 10-0 with a 41-yard field goal on the next drive. The offense continued to click in the second quarter, with Anthony Byrd finding the end zone for his only score of the day. Byrd had an outstanding performance, carrying the ball 32 times for an impressive 223 yards, including a long rush of 46 yards, while averaging 6.8 yards per carry.
Switching things up at quarterback, Freshman Javier Rice showcased his dual-threat capabilities, rushing ten times for 50 yards and scoring twice in the second half, further solidifying the Bishops' offensive momentum.
On the defensive side, Andrew Brown led the Bishops with 12 tackles, providing crucial stops throughout the game. Kicker Braxtyn Green was phenomenal as well, going 2-for-2 on field goals and a perfect 4-for-4 on extra points including the game winner on the final drive.
