Greensboro, NC - The N.C. Wesleyan football team battled to a thrilling 23-21 victory over Greensboro on Saturday, extending the win streak to two games. Both defenses set the tone in a hard-fought first quarter, but Wesleyan struck first when quarterback
Chaz Hirschman connected with
Christian Drumgoole on a 15-yard touchdown pass. The scoring drive, which covered 73 yards over 15 plays, gave the Bishops an early lead of 6-0.

The game opened up in an action-packed third quarter, with both teams trading touchdowns. Bishop's running back
Anthony Byrd broke through for his first touchdown of the game, capping a 60-yard drive on a 6-play series with 11:43 left in the third. Byrd found the end zone again later in the quarter, pushing through from 5 yards out with just 53 seconds remaining until the final stanza.
With the game on the line in the fourth quarter, kicker
Braxtyn Green delivered the game-winning blow, nailing a 31-yard field goal with 3:33 left on the clock. The Bishops' defense stood strong in the final moments, sealing a huge 23-21 victory.
Anthony Byrd led the Bishops' offense with 23 carries for 136 yards and two touchdowns, while Drumgoole contributed with five receptions for 87 yards and a touchdown. On defense, Wesleyan held Greensboro to under 300 yards of total offense, with standout performances from
Eric Cooper, who recorded six solo tackles and four assists.Â
