Rocky Mount, NC - The N.C. Wesleyan football team earned a thrilling 19-17 victory over Methodist on Homecoming in a defensive battle that also honored the 2004 team, celebrating the first ever NCAA Tournament appearance for the program.

Wesleyan set the tone early, scoring the only points of the first quarter with a 65-yard touchdown connection from Chaz Hirschman to Anthony Byrd on the opening drive. The Bishops' defense played a key role throughout the game, holding the Monarchs to just 158 rushing yards. Eric Cooper anchored the defensive effort with a standout performance, recording thirteen total tackles.
Leading 6-3 at halftime, the Bishops' offense came alive in the second half. Anthony Byrd powered through the middle for an 8-yard touchdown run, followed by another touchdown pass from Hirschman to Christian Drumgoole, who continued his incredible season with another receiving score.
