Rocky Mount, NC - The N.C. Wesleyan women's basketball team put up a valiant effort on Sunday afternoon at Everett Gymnasium, but ultimately fell to Piedmont in a closely contested 70-65 matchup.

The Battling Bishops showcased a balanced offensive attack with three players scoring in double figures. Forward Anaya Hall led the way with eleven points and three rebounds, while senior guard Nadia Simmons added ten points and two boards. Iyania Evans made her presence felt in the paint, scoring ten points on 5-of-11 shooting and grabbing two rebounds.
Wesleyan controlled the glass throughout, outrebounding Piedmont 36-28, and shot an impressive 41% from the floor. The Bishops were efficient from the free-throw line as well, converting 7-of-11 attempts. The bench provided a significant spark, contributing 30 of the NCWU's 65 points.
