Rocky Mount, NC - The N.C. Wesleyan women's basketball team opened 2025 in dominant fashion, cruising to a 72-35 victory over William Peace in Everett Gymnasium on Saturday evening. The Bishops were unstoppable on both ends of the floor, setting the tone early with nine field goals in the first quarter and shooting an impressive 50% for the game.

Wesleyan's stifling defense was the story of the night, forcing the Pacers into 27 turnovers and converting those into 28 points. The Bishops held William Peace to just 25% shooting from the field and a mere 4-of-25 from beyond the arc.
The Bishops controlled the game inside, outscoring the Pacers 42-8 in the paint and dominating the boards with 45 rebounds. Iyania Evans led the charge in the post, scoring thirteen points on six made field goals and pulling down seven rebounds. Corynthian Williams added eleven points for NCWU, including a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line.
Nadia Simmons and Dorinda Jordan also were a big part of the second conference victory. Jordan tallied eight points on 4-of-6 shooting while grabbing a game-high eight rebounds, and Simmons matched her eight points while adding three boards. Wesleyan's depth was also on full display, with the bench contributing 32 points to the effort.
