Baseball Splits DH with Brevard

Rocky Mount, NC - The N.C. Wesleyan baseball team split Saturday's DH with Brevard to close out a three game set at Bauer Field. Winning the final game of the weekend, the Battling Bishops improve to 6-3 in conference play.

Game 1:

N.C. Wesleyan 9, Brevard 18

Responding to an early run put up by the Tornados in game one, Jackson Hobbs belted a solo shot in the third inning to tie the ballgame at one a piece. Exploding for four runs in the bottom of the 5th, Hobbs would come up clutch again with an RBI single while Jaiden Barker would continue to be an extra base hit machine, tripling to clear the bases.

Unfortunately, the Tornados would put up a ten spot in the 7th to win, but Wesleyan did not go away quietly with three runs in the bottom of the frame.

Game 2:

N.C. Wesleyan 12, Brevard 9

Zooming out the gate, the Battling Bishops hung five early runs in the first two innings thanks to a wild pitch and a Davie Morgan bases loaded walk. In the second, Tyson Bass singles to bring in Maison Nance and Jackson Hobbs followed with a double to left center that sent Alex Moskal and Tyson Bass around to score.

Pouring it on with six 7th inning runs, Bass and Hobbs would come up huge again with two RBI singles, while Jaiden Barker cleared the bases with a double in the left center gap.

Preston Workman earned his first win of the year for Wesleyan, throwing 5.1 innings and striking out four Tornados in a gritty effort on the mound.
