Softball Sweeps William Peace

Raleigh, NC - The N.C. Wesleyan softball program swept William Peace in a road DH on Tuesday afternoon. Wesleyan now sits at 17-15 overall headed into the home stretch of the regular season after two huge victories.

Game 1:

N.C. Wesleyan 5, William Peace 4

With the offense revving up the engines in the third inning, Lillie Baumbach singled up the middle to bring around Aleah Jones before the Battling Bishops broke the game up with four runs in the 4th inning. Starting with a Molly Alejandrino bases loaded walk, Alexis Whitfield and Aleah Jones would both drive in two more runs before Baumbach doubled to left field to send Molly Alejandrino around to score.

On the mound, Morgan Aycock got the win, tossing four innings in her 8th victory of the season and striking out four Pacers. Emily Humphrey would come in relief and earn her second save of the season in 1.2 innings of work and two hits.

Game 2:

N.C. Wesleyan 8, William Peace 6

Earning another close two run victory, Makayla Simmons got the show started in the first by singling through the left side before Savannah Thompson would do the same in the second frame for a big 2-0 early lead.

Exploding in the 4th and 5th innings, Savannah Thompson came up clutch once again, doubling to left field to score Aleah Jones and Molly Alejandrino. Scoring four runs off three RBI singles in the 5th, Alejandrino, Jones, and Thompson helped the Bishops secure huge insurance runs.

On the mound in game two, Keira Boisvert earned her 4th win of the season, tossing 3.1 innings and only allowing four hits while Morgan Aycock earned herself the second save of the year, throwing 1.2 innings and only giving up a single hit.
