Greensboro, NC - The N.C. Wesleyan baseball team concluded the regular season splitting a DH with Greensboro on Saturday. With a 28-11 overall record, Wesleyan will host the conference tournament beginning on Thursday as the #1 overall seed.
Game 1:
N.C. Wesleyan 18, Greensboro 6
With another offensive explosion, Wesleyan jumped out to a 15-2 lead after the 2nd inning. Knocking out four homers in the first two frames,
Tyson Bass launched one in each inning for his 16th of the season to rank him top five in the nation.
Blake Scott also launched a two run homer in the first inning to right field to keep the bats hot. Second basemen
Davie Morgan also went yard for his 7th of the season.
Maison Nance had an outstanding game for the Battling Bishops, going 3-5 and driving in three runs including a double down the line in the 6th to drive home two.Â
On the mound,
Drifton Padgett earned his 5th win of the season, tossing six innings and only allowing four hits in a fantastic start.
Game 2:
N.C. Wesleyan 4, Greensboro 5
Responding to four early runs, Wesleyan punched back for three runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings thanks to
Jackson Ellyson and
Javier Quintana coming up huge with RBI knocks. In the 6th,
Drifton Padgett singled to right field to score
Colin Scoggins for the final run of the game.
On the mound, Wesleyan threw three pitchers as
Preston Workman got the start, tossing 4.1 innings and allowing four runs. In relief,
Andrew Tubb looked sharp, only allowing 2.2 innings, not allowing a run and two hits.
