Softball Downs Nationally Ranked Pfeiffer

Rocky Mount, NC - The N.C. Wesleyan softball program handed nationally ranked Pfeiffer its first loss of the season on Tuesday afternoon at Edge Field. The special day also had the softball program welcome the Diamond Thieves 10u softball team as Diamond Thieve players ran out with the Bishops during starting lineups.

Game 1:

North Carolina Wesleyan 0, #18 Pfeiffer 4

Unable to muster much offense, the Falcons held the Battling Bishops to only two hits in game one in the 4-0 shutout. Morgan Aycock was fantastic on the bump for the Battling Bishops, tossing seven innings and only allowing four hits and two earned runs against the high powered offense.

Game 2:

North Carolina Wesleyan 1, #18 Pfeiffer 0

In her best outing of the season, Emily Humphrey was dealing on the bump for Wesleyan. Holding the #18 team in the country to a four hit shutout, Humphrey only walked one on 89 pitches in the dominant outing. Scoring the game's lone run in the bottom of the 6th inning, Makayla Simmons drove in Emily Humphrey to complete the upset.
