Buena Vista, VA - The N.C. Wesleyan softball team split a twin bill at Southern Virginia on Saturday. The Battling Bishops now sit at 14-12 on the year after the DH.
Game 1:
North Carolina Wesleyan 4, Southern Virginia 2
Busting for a trifecta of runs in the third frame thanks to a three run bomb to left center by
Molly Alejandrino. In the 5th, Makayla Simmona continued her tear at the plate, singling down the right field line to bring home
Lillie Baumbach.
On the mound in game one for Wesleyan was
Morgan Aycock who improved to 7-5 on the young season, only allowing two Knight runs over the course of five innings. Coming in relief,
Emily Humphrey recorded her first save of the season, not allowing a single run in two innings pitched.
Game 2:
North Carolina Wesleyan 3, Southern Virginia 4
Exploding in the third inning,
Makayla Simmons would once again to send around
Emily Humphrey to the plate and an error by the left fielder to score two Bishop runs.
Emily Humphrey was also fantastic on the mound, only allowing one earned run in a complete game.
