Women's Soccer Earns First Conference Win with 2-1 Victory Over Mary Baldwin

Rocky Mount, NC – The N.C. Wesleyan women's soccer team secured their first conference victory of the season in dramatic fashion, defeating Mary Baldwin 2-1 on Sunday afternoon. Late-game heroics and a solid defensive effort helped lift the Bishops to the win.

The Bishops struck first in the 18th minute when Eden Whiteside continued her impressive season, scoring her fifth goal of 2024. The goal, assisted by Makena Meyer, gave Wesleyan an early 1-0 lead. Mary Baldwin fought back in the second half, and Stori Maybank's goal in the 75th minute leveled the score at 1-1.

With just three minutes remaining in the match, Peyton Staub delivered the game-winner for Wesleyan, netting her first goal of the season to put the Bishops ahead 2-1. The defense, led by freshman goalkeeper Grace Walls, held strong as she recorded two crucial saves to preserve the victory.
