Salem, VA - The N.C. Wesleyan volleyball team kicked off its 2024 season with a split on Friday at the Maroon Classic. The Battling Bishops started strong with a decisive 3-0 victory over Hollins, sweeping the match in straight sets by scores of 25-20, 25-20, and 25-14. Wesleyan dominated across all statistical categories, tallying 29 kills, 39 digs, 27 assists, and an impressive eleven service aces.
Sloan Martin and Aajah Vasquez were standouts for the Bishops, each contributing six kills to lead the Wesleyan attack. Martin also directed the attack with a team-high fourteen assists, while freshman Brooklynn Covic made her presence felt in her collegiate debut with 22 attempts. The Bishops' well-rounded effort set the tone for a promising start to the season.
