Buena Vista, VA - The N.C. Wesleyan women's basketball team dropped a tough matchup against first-place Southern Virginia on Saturday, falling 73-38. The Bishops now hold a 9-7 overall record following the defeat.

NCWU battled closely in the first half, trailing by just one point after the opening quarter and by six at halftime. The Bishops made six field goals in the first quarter and limited the Knights to just 1-for-4 shooting from beyond the arc in a strong defensive showing.
Wesleyan found success in the paint, led by Iyania Evans, who grabbed nine rebounds and added five points, including three made free throws. Guard Nadia Simmons led NCWU in scoring with eight points, connecting on six free throws. Forward Dorinda Jordan also contributed with six points and four rebounds.
The Bishops' defense was a bright spot, forcing Southern Virginia into 22 turnovers, which Wesleyan converted into fourteen points. Additionally, the Bishops excelled at the free-throw line, going 16-for-22.
