Virginia Beach, VA - The North Carolina Wesleyan women's soccer team delivered a dominant performance on the road Monday afternoon, defeating Regent 5–0 behind a balanced offensive effort and a stingy defensive showing.
The Bishops (5–7–1) wasted little time setting the tone, striking early in the 8th minute when freshman forward Kayden Comerford found the back of the net to give Wesleyan a quick 1–0 lead. Sophomore midfielder Makena Meyer extended the margin in the 21st minute, converting off an assist from senior captain Eden Whiteside. Whiteside then added a goal of her own in the 32nd minute to make it 3–0 heading into halftime.
Comerford opened the second half just as strong as the first, scoring her second goal of the day less than a minute into play to push the lead to four. Freshman forward Eliana Butler capped the scoring in the 89th minute off a perfect feed from Mary Chambers, sealing the 5–0 shutout win.
Wesleyan dominated statistically, outshooting the Royals 20–7 and recording thirteen shots on goal compared to Regent's five. Comerford led the Bishops with seven shots and four on target, while Whiteside, Meyer, and Butler each added goals in a well-rounded offensive display.
Goalkeeper Grace Walls anchored the back line with five saves to her record, as the Wesleyan defense allowed just one first-half shot and kept Regent without a goal for the full 90 minutes.
