Men's Soccer Powers Past Brevard for Third Conference Win

Rocky Mount, NC - The North Carolina Wesleyan men's soccer team continued its late-season surge on Saturday afternoon, defeating Brevard 4–2 at Scalf Field to secure its third USA South victory.

The Bishops (6–7–1, 3–1–1 USA South) used a balanced attack and strong first half to control the match from start to finish, building a 2–0 lead before halftime and answering each Tornado goal with authority.

Israel Monsanto opened the scoring in the 6th minute when he buried a feed from Tom Roantree to give Wesleyan an early 1–0 advantage. Just before the break, Santiago Calvo Lovera doubled the lead with a clinical finish in the 45th minute, sending the Bishops to the locker room ahead 2–0.

Brevard briefly cut the margin to one early in the second half, but the Bishops quickly regained momentum. Freshman Mikkel Christensen extended the lead to 3–1 in the 55th minute on an assist from Jack Mudd, and Tom Roantree later converted a penalty kick in the 85th minute to seal the victory.

Facundo Boismoreau anchored the back line with one save in goal, while Wesleyan outshot Brevard 16–5 and held a 3–1 edge in corner kicks.
