Women's Soccer Tops Warren Wilson 3-1 on Road

Swannanoa, NC - The North Carolina Wesleyan women's soccer team picked up a strong 3-1 road win Sunday afternoon, defeating Warren Wilson at Hank Steinbrecher Sports Complex.

The Bishops struck early and controlled the match from the outset, with Samantha Dell finding the back of the net twice in the opening ten minutes. Dell's first goal came in the seventh minute off an assist from Mia Scherber, followed by a second just three minutes later assisted by Nicole Goodwin.

Maison Berrios added to the lead less than a minute into the second half, scoring in the 46th minute to make it 3-0. Warren Wilson broke through late with a goal by Eden Gfeller in the 80th minute, but the Bishops' defense held firm the rest of the way.

Dell led the attack with four shots and three on target, while Scherber added three shots and an assist. Goalkeeper Lauren Graham tallied three saves in the win as Wesleyan outshot the Owls 18-13 and held a 9-3 edge in corner kicks.

Wesleyan improves to 6-9-1 overall and remained 3-5 in USA South play heading into the final game of the regular season.
