Women’s Basketball Drops Final Game of Jean Edge Classic to Lynchburg

Rocky Mount, NC - North Carolina Wesleyan wrapped up the Jean Edge Classic on Sunday afternoon with a 65–50 loss to undefeated Lynchburg inside Everett Gymnasium. The Bishops move to 1–2 on the young season.

The game was tight through the first half, featuring eight ties and ten lead changes. Wesleyan trailed just 32–29 at the break, but Lynchburg seized control with a decisive 22–7 third quarter, using a combination of transition scoring and second-chance opportunities to create separation. The Hornets shot 35% in the period while holding the Bishops to just 11% from the floor.

Despite the scoring drought, Wesleyan continued to compete defensively and finished the day with a strong rebounding effort, collecting 57 boards to Lynchburg's 45. Dorinda Jordan was a force inside, recording sixteen points and nineteen rebounds. Anaya Hall added fourteen points and three rebounds, while Kieara Hughes finished with nine points and three rebounds.

Lynchburg (3–0) was led by Taylor Brown's sixteen points and twelve rebounds. The Hornets' depth was effective again, as their bench contributed 25 points and helped spark the third-quarter run.

Wesleyan struggled from beyond the arc, finishing 1-for-16 from three, and committed 25 turnovers that led to 21 Lynchburg points. The Bishops, however, won the rebounding battle and scored 34 points in the paint.
