Rocky Mount, NC - North Carolina Wesleyan could not overcome a slow first half on Wednesday night, falling 78–69 to Christopher Newport inside Everett Gymnasium. The Bishops move to 3–2 on the season.

Both teams traded runs early, but CNU used a late surge to take a 31–23 lead into halftime. The Captains shot 44% for the game and controlled the interior with a 44–22 advantage in points in the paint. Wesleyan responded with a strong offensive second half, shooting 52% from the floor, but turnovers and second-chance opportunities proved costly as CNU held on down the stretch.

Nasir Johnson led the Bishops with eighteen points, including a pair of threes and seven rebounds. Rashod Smith provided a major spark off the bench, scoring eighteen points while going 8-of-9 at the free throw line. Markquan Gilbert finished with fourteen points and five rebounds, knocking down 10-of-16 at the stripe.

Deejayy Cox added ten points and seven rebounds on 4-of-6 shooting. James Jones chipped in five points, and Justin Burden contributed four assists and three steals.

Christopher Newport (2–2) was paced by Tyson Henderson's 23 points and eight rebounds. Toa Hollenbeck added 22 points, going 10-of-12 at the free throw line. The Captains finished with 49 rebounds and converted thirteen second-chance points.

Despite the loss, Wesleyan outscored CNU 47-46 in the second half and forced nine steals, but the Bishops were limited to 5-of-16 from three and committed twenty fouls that led to 29 free-throw attempts for the visitors.
