Men's Basketball Edges Methodist for Eighth Win in Last Nine Games

Rocky Mount, NC - The N.C. Wesleyan men's basketball team continued its hot streak with a thrilling 76-72 victory over Methodist on Tuesday night inside Everett Gymnasium. With the win, the Bishops have now taken eight of its last nine contests.

Khalid Chavis-Hinds led the charge for Wesleyan with a game-high 27 points, shooting 8-of-14 from the field and converting an impressive 10-of-11 from the free-throw line. Chavis-Hinds set the tone early with back-to-back fastbreak layups in the opening minute.

James Jones added thirteen points off the bench, connecting on three of his eight attempts from beyond the arc. Marquis Eskew chipped in eleven points and three rebounds, while Ky'ron Kelly anchored the paint with ten boards and seven points.

The first half was a back-and-forth battle, featuring four ties and eight lead changes. The Bishops trailed by as many as eight midway through the half but rallied to take a narrow 34-32 lead into halftime.

Wesleyan found its rhythm in the second half, shooting 51.7% from the field and knocking down four of seven three-pointers. Methodist stayed within striking distance, but clutch free-throw shooting from Chavis-Hinds in the final minutes sealed the win for the Bishops.
