Lacrosse Scores Seven Goals in Loss to Warren Wilson

Rocky Mount, NC - The N.C. Wesleyan women's lacrosse team put forth a strong effort on Tuesday afternoon at Stallings Field, but despite a determined performance, the Battling Bishops fell 16-7 to Warren Wilson.

Freshman Maxima Iglesias led the Bishops' attack with three goals, continuing to showcase her offensive skill, while Nicole Triassi added a pair of goals to keep NCWU in the fight. Alaska Evans and Kelsi Oyer also found the back of the net, contributing to the Bishops' seven-goal effort.

In goal, Jillian Stine put on a stellar display, recording thirteen saves to help keep Warren Wilson's offense at bay. Her quick reflexes and timely stops gave the Bishops a chance to battle back throughout the contest.

After a slow first quarter, Wesleyan found its offensive rhythm in the second period when Iglesias put the Bishops on the board with a determined unassisted goal. Moments later, she assisted Triassi to cut into the Warren Wilson lead. The Bishops continued the momentum in the third quarter with goals from Evans, Iglesias, and Triassi, while Oyer added a fourth-quarter tally off another Iglesias assist.
