Brevard, NC - The N.C. Wesleyan lacrosse team continued its early-season stretch on the road Saturday afternoon, falling to Brevard by a score of 16-2 in USA South Conference play. Despite the final score, the Battling Bishops showed resilience and were highlighted by a two-goal performance from senior Maxima Iglesias.
Brevard came out strong in the opening half, building a 12-0 lead heading into the break. Wesleyan's defense worked hard against the Tornados' fast-paced attack, with goalkeeper and defensive unit facing heavy offensive pressure throughout the afternoon.
In the third period, the Bishops found a spark when Iglesias got Wesleyan on the board with an unassisted goal at the 12:45 mark. Iglesias showed her veteran leadership and continued to push the offensive momentum, notching her second goal of the game in the fourth period with another strong individual effort.
The Bishops' defense also stepped up late in the contest, limiting Brevard to just one goal in the final frame. Players like Alaska Evans and the backline remained active in trying to slow down the Tornados' attack, demonstrating Wesleyan's determination to fight until the final whistle.
