Fayetteville, NC - The North Carolina Wesleyan softball team continued its strong USA South Athletic Conference play on Tuesday afternoon, sweeping a doubleheader on the road against Methodist University at Price Field. The Bishops earned a 13-1 run-rule victory in six innings in game one before closing out the day with a 6-0 shutout in the nightcap.
Game One: N.C. Wesleyan 13, Methodist 1 (6 Innings)
The Bishops' offense exploded for thirteen runs on nine hits in the opener, with senior Ragan Holloman delivering a massive performance at the plate, going 3-for-4 with eight RBIs, a double, and a triple. Holloman's bases-clearing double in the third inning broke open the game early, followed by a three-run triple in the fourth to further extend Wesleyan's lead.
Kyiah Simmons added an RBI double in the third, while Kayla Simmons chipped in with a run-scoring double of her own. The Bishops capitalized on four Methodist errors, generating consistent pressure throughout the lineup.
In the circle, Morgan Aycock was dominant, improving to 9-5 on the season with a complete-game effort. She allowed just one run on six hits, striking out four and walking one across six innings of work.
Game Two: N.C. Wesleyan 6, Methodist 0
In the nightcap, the Bishops kept the momentum going behind a stellar pitching performance from Emily Humphrey, who tossed a complete-game shutout. Humphrey (9-4) surrendered only three hits and did not issue a walk while striking out four over seven innings.
The Bishops got on the board in the third inning with an RBI single from Kayla Simmons, then added three more in the fourth highlighted by run-scoring plays from Alexis Whitfield, Skyler Walker, and Holloman. Whitfield would finish the game with two RBIs, while Aleah Jones scored twice and collected two hits.
Wesleyan added insurance runs in the fifth and seventh innings to secure the sweep and improve to 24-14 overall and 12-4 in USA South play.
