Men’s Soccer Drops Road Match at Hampden-Sydney

Hampden-Sydney, VA - The N.C. Wesleyan men's soccer team came up short on Thursday evening, falling 2-0 to Hampden-Sydney at Hellmuth-Gibson Field.

The host Tigers struck early, finding the net in the fifth minute when Zakky Johnston converted off an assist from Tyler Petz. Hampden-Sydney doubled its advantage shortly after halftime, as Charlie Letson scored in the 47th minute to put the match out of reach.

The Bishops (2-5-0) generated several chances throughout the night, tallying eleven shots with one on goal. Freshman Mikkel Christensen provided the lone shot on target, while Mohamed Macalou and Jordi Rodriguez each recorded multiple attempts. John Hassan narrowly missed late, sending a strike just over the crossbar in the closing minutes.

Defensively, goalkeeper Jacob Westermark anchored the Bishops with six saves, turning away several dangerous Tiger opportunities. Hampden-Sydney (5-1-0) finished with eleven shots of its own, including eight on frame, while holding a 6-1 edge in corner kicks.
