Men's Soccer Falls in Road Trip to Washington, D.C.

Washington, D.C. – The North Carolina Wesleyan men's soccer team was unable to overcome a fast start from Catholic, falling 4-0 Wednesday night at Carlini Field.

The Cardinals (4-0-3) struck twice early, with Holden Woodings finishing in the 14th minute and Carson Shamoo adding another just two minutes later to put the Bishops (2-6-0) in an early hole.

Wesleyan generated several quality chances throughout the night, firing nine shots with seven on target. Jack Mudd led the attack off the bench with three shots on goal, while Joel McGinnes, Jordi Rodriguez, Nicolas Sautua, and Jaden Delos each forced saves from Catholic keeper Trevor Grice, who finished with seven stops to preserve the shutout.

Catholic extended its lead in the second half behind Woodings' second goal of the night, converting a penalty kick in the 57th minute. The hosts capped the scoring in the 84th minute when Andreas Shaboo finished off a setup from Corey Magro.

Goalkeeper Jacob Westermark recorded one save in net for the Bishops, who were edged 16-9 in total shots.
