Rocky Mount, NC – The North Carolina Wesleyan golf team delivered a strong showing on its home course, finishing second overall at the 2025 Don Scalf Memorial held September 21st and 22nd at Belmont Lake Golf Club.

Sophomore Rylan Gay led the way in dominant fashion, capturing the individual championship with rounds of 75 (+3) and 65 (-7) to finish at 140 (-4) overall. Gay's second-round 65 was the lowest individual score of the tournament and one of the best single rounds in program history.

As a team, the Bishops opened play with a 307 in round one before posting a blistering 286 in round two, finishing with a total score of 593 (+17) to secure second place in the four-team field. The 286 team round marks the lowest single-round score of the Mac Sykes era at Wesleyan.

Freshmen Juan Amil and Guido Guevara each tied for eighth individually after matching rounds of 76-73 (+5), while first-year Brady Peslar added rounds of 80-75 (+11) to round out the scoring. Freshman Jack Clayman contributed with rounds of 85-75 (+16), while junior Arnau Margall shot 83-81 (+20).

Rounding out play for the Bishops were Alvaro Vega (88-91), John Figueroa (96-86), and Teddy Swiech (97-92).

The Bishops' record-breaking second round showcased the team's growth and depth early in the fall season under Coach Sykes' leadership.

Golf returns to action for its final tournament off the fall on October 27th and 28th at Guilford.
