Farmingdale, NY - The North Carolina Wesleyan golf team teed off its 2025–26 campaign this weekend at the Farmingdale State Invitational, placing eighth overall in the season's opening event. The Battling Bishops carded a team score of 310 (+22) at the famed Bethpage Red Course, competing against a strong regional field highlighted by Swarthmore, Adelphi, and host Farmingdale State.
Swarthmore captured the team title with an even-par 288, followed closely by Adelphi (+2, 290) and Farmingdale State (+7, 295).
For the Bishops, Arnau Ferrer Margall led the way with a steady round of 75 (+3) to finish tied for 17th in the individual standings. Brady Preslar followed with a 77 (+5), while Guido Guevara turned in a 78 (+6). Juan Amil Garrigues posted an 80 (+8), and Rylan Gay rounded out the team scoring with an 83 (+11).
The tournament provided a special experience for the Bishops, as Bethpage is one of the nation's most iconic golf venues and is set to host the 2025 Ryder Cup. Competing on a championship-caliber course offered valuable experience and exposure to conditions similar to those faced by the game's best professionals.
