Rocky Mount, NC - The North Carolina Wesleyan women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision on the road Wednesday night against unbeaten Guilford at the Armfield Athletic Center.
The Bishops (1-5-1, 0-1-0 USA South) battled evenly in the first half, generating six shots to Guilford's eight. Samantha Dell and Kayden Comerford each placed attempts on target, while sophomore Maison Berrios nearly found the net twice off the bench, forcing two saves. Despite the push, the Quakers struck late in the 45th minute when Ainsley Yates finished a give-and-go sequence to put the hosts ahead 1-0 heading into halftime.
Guilford (6-0-2) added insurance midway through the second half on a header from Kylee Berry off a set piece, then closed the scoring in the 86th minute when Ava Arias buried a long-range strike from the left wing.
Goalkeeper Lauren Graham anchored the Bishop defense with seven saves in the match, facing consistent pressure from the Quakers' attack. Wesleyan finished with seven total shots, four of which were on frame, compared to fourteen shots and ten on target for Guilford.
