Staunton, VA - The N.C. Wesleyan women's soccer dropped a close 1-0 decision to Mary Baldwin on Saturday afternoon at SMA Worth Field.
The match was evenly played through much of the afternoon, with both teams creating chances but strong goalkeeping keeping the score level into the second half. Grace Walls anchored the Bishop defense with eight saves to keep Mary Baldwin off the scoreboard early, while the back line worked together to clear dangerous opportunities.
The breakthrough came in the 69th minute when Mary Baldwin's Anna Hill finished a pass from Mackenzie Shores for what proved to be the lone goal.
Wesleyan pushed forward late, generating seven of its eight shots after halftime. Makena Meyer led the charge with three attempts, while Samantha Dell, Kayden Comerford, and Jordan Fernandez each forced the keeper into action. Despite holding a 6–2 advantage in second-half corner kicks, the Bishops could not find the equalizer.
