Bishops Battle Southern Virginia in Competitive Home Contest

Rocky Mount, NC - N.C. Wesleyan battled hard in a competitive USA South matchup on January 10, ultimately falling 64–53 to Southern Virginia in front of a spirited home crowd. The Bishops stayed within striking distance throughout the contest, rallying after an early deficit to make it a game in the second half. Wesleyan showed grit and effort on offense as they worked to find scoring opportunities against a strong Southern Virginia defense, while also competing on the glass and in transition. The Bishops generated 23 points off turnovers and received strong bench production with 30 points from reserves, helping keep pressure on the Knights throughout the game.

Individually, N.C. Wesleyan received notable contributions across the lineup. Des'Myah Croom led the team with 14 points and connected on a key three-pointer that helped fuel a second-half push. Anaya Hall added 13 points while asserting herself around the basket and grabbing rebounds to keep possessions alive, and Alexandria Belton chipped in five points while helping create offensive flow. Dorinda Jordan contributed seven points and provided a presence in the paint, while Shamaya Lynch, Harmony Martin, and others brought energy defensively and on the boards. Despite facing a tough opponent and falling short, Wesleyan's balanced effort and resilience in a competitive USA South contest demonstrated their determination as the Bishops continue conference play. Your Bishops will be back in action at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14th, when they host Meredith College in a USA South Conference game at Everett Gymnasium in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
