Bishops Hold Off Meredith for 71–65 Conference Win

N.C. Wesleyan earned a hard-fought 71–65 victory over Meredith on January 14 at Everett Gymnasium, using a strong opening quarter, balanced scoring, and late-game execution to secure the USA South Conference win. The Bishops set the tone early by outscoring Meredith 27–17 in the first quarter, building momentum with aggressive play in the paint and strong rebounding. After Meredith made several pushes to tighten the score, Wesleyan responded with timely baskets and defensive stops, finishing the game by outscoring the Avenging Angels 19–14 in the fourth quarter. Wesleyan controlled the glass with 48 total rebounds and generated 46 points in the paint, while also capitalizing on turnovers for 22 points, allowing the Bishops to maintain control throughout the contest.

Anaya Hall led N.C. Wesleyan with a standout performance, scoring 24 points and pulling down 10 rebounds to anchor the Bishops on both ends of the floor. Alexandria Belton added eight points while contributing rebounds and defensive effort, and Dorinda Jordan finished with eight points and six rebounds, providing a strong interior presence. Harmony Martin chipped in nine points off the bench and helped spark the offense during key stretches, while Kieara Hughes and Shamaya Lynch contributed defensive pressure and ball movement that kept Meredith off balance. With contributions across the lineup and strong execution in the closing minutes, the Bishops secured an important conference victory and continued to build momentum during USA South play.
