Swannanoa, N.C. - The N.C. Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team opened its 2026 season on the road at Warren Wilson College, falling 20-10 on February 13 at Hank Steinbrecher Stadium.
Despite the final score, the Battling Bishops showed resilience throughout the contest, highlighted by a standout offensive performance from Iglesias, who poured in six goals and added two assists to lead Wesleyan's attack. Oyer and Triassi each contributed two goals, with Triassi finding the back of the net twice in key second- and third-quarter moments to help spark momentum.
After trading early goals in the first quarter, Warren Wilson used a strong opening frame to build an advantage, but Wesleyan continued to battle. The Bishops tallied three goals in the second quarter and added two more in the third, including a score from Triassi off an assist from Zuniga. In the fourth quarter, Wesleyan closed with four goals, highlighted by back-to-back strikes from Iglesias and a pair from Oyer, including a late finish off an Iglesias assist.
Defensively, goalkeeper Daniels played all 60 minutes and recorded 10 saves while facing 38 shots. Garcia added two assists and was active in transition, while Butler contributed on the defensive end with three ground balls. As a team, the Bishops capitalized on 14-of-20 clear attempts and showed determination by scoring in every quarter.
N.C. Wesleyan will look to build on the offensive production and continue to develop as the season progresses.
