Rocky Mount, N.C. - North Carolina Wesleyan softball delivered a dominant performance in a home doubleheader sweep over Mid-Atlantic Christian on Wednesday afternoon at Edge Field, winning 16-2 in game one and 9-0 in the nightcap.
In the opener, the Battling Bishops exploded offensively, using a 14-run second inning to take complete control of the game. After a scoreless first, Wesleyan erupted behind a grand slam from Lexi Howerton, who finished with four RBI in the inning. Brooke Markiewicz and Ragan Holloman each added RBI hits, while Kyiah Simmons, Kayla Simmons, and Savannah Bain all contributed run-scoring plays as the Bishops sent multiple batters to the plate. Kayla Simmons later added a two-run home run in the fourth to extend the lead. Wesleyan totaled 10 hits and drew nine walks in the contest. In the circle, Kendall Wallace earned the win, allowing two runs over three innings while striking out five, with Jaden Clark and Macey Jackson combining in relief to close out the 16-2 victory.
Wesleyan carried that momentum into game two, securing a 9-0 shutout behind a balanced offensive attack and strong pitching. The Bishops struck early in the first inning when Kayla Simmons drove in Ragan Holloman, and added three more runs in the second highlighted by RBI hits from Ramzie Bryant and Brooke Markiewicz along with aggressive baserunning. Wesleyan broke the game open in the fourth with a five-run inning, as Kyiah Simmons launched a two-run home run and Markiewicz added another RBI. Holloman paced the offense with three hits, including two triples, while multiple players recorded hits in the 12-hit effort. Ava Strickland earned the win in the circle with four scoreless innings, allowing just one hit, while Addyson Romanczyk closed out the shutout in relief.
The sweep showcased a complete performance from the Battling Bishops, combining explosive offense with dominant pitching as Wesleyan controlled both games from start to finish.
