Bishops Sweep William Peace in Road Doubleheader

Raleigh, N.C. - North Carolina Wesleyan softball earned a doubleheader sweep on the road against William Peace on Tuesday afternoon, taking game one 6-4 before rolling to a 10-1 victory in the nightcap.

In the opener, the Battling Bishops used timely hitting and a big fifth inning to secure the win. After falling behind 1-0 early, Wesleyan answered in the third when Kayla Simmons drove in a run to even the score. The Bishops broke the game open in the fifth, capitalizing on errors and clutch hitting as Simmons launched a two-run home run to highlight a four-run frame. Wesleyan added another run later in the inning on aggressive baserunning to extend the lead to 5-1. In the sixth, Simmons delivered again with a sacrifice fly to bring home an insurance run. Simmons finished with two hits and four RBI, while Ragan Holloman led the offense with three hits and multiple runs scored. In the circle, Ava Strickland earned the win, tossing 4.2 innings while allowing just two runs, and Addyson Romanczyk closed out the game in relief as Wesleyan held on for the 6-4 victory.

Wesleyan carried that momentum into game two, erupting offensively to complete the sweep with a 10-1 win. The Bishops plated five runs in the second inning, taking advantage of defensive miscues before adding two more in the third behind an RBI double from Brooke Markiewicz. Wesleyan continued to apply pressure late, scoring three runs in the seventh as Markiewicz and Simmons each drove in runs to cap the scoring. The Bishops totaled 10 hits in the contest, with Aleah Jones going a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate while Markiewicz and Kayla Simmons each recorded multiple RBI. Kendall Wallace was dominant in the circle, tossing a complete game and allowing just one run on two hits while striking out four.

The sweep marked a strong all-around performance for the Battling Bishops, combining explosive offense with solid pitching to secure two road victories.
