Bishops Drop Game Two, Respond with Game Three Victory

Rocky Mount, N.C. - N.C. Wesleyan wrapped up its three-game series with Pfeiffer on Saturday, dropping game two before bouncing back with an impressive offensive performance to secure the finale at Bauer Field. In game two, the Battling Bishops fell 7-2 despite collecting seven hits and drawing five walks. Wesleyan got on the board in the fourth inning when Jake Flowers came around to score on a passed ball, and later added a run in the eighth as Brady Williams delivered an RBI single to bring home Banks Hartman. Williams led the offense with two hits, while Hartman, Flowers, Caleb Elias, and Jackson Ellyson each contributed hits. On the mound, Nathanael Volk worked into the sixth inning before Parker Sherrod, Tyler Jumper, and Caleb Dennis combined in relief as Pfeiffer used timely extra-base hits to pull away.

In game three, Wesleyan responded in a big way, defeating Pfeiffer 11-6 behind a dominant second inning that set the tone early. The Bishops erupted for six runs in the second, highlighted by a three-run home run from Schumata Brown and RBI hits from Aydin Zimmerman and Jackson Ellyson. Wesleyan continued to add on with two runs in the fourth on a two-RBI single from Maison Nance and three more in the sixth, taking advantage of key hits and defensive miscues. Brown finished with two hits and three RBIs, while Nance added two hits and two RBIs. Ellyson, Brady Williams, and Zimmerman each recorded multi-hit games as Wesleyan totaled 12 hits in the win. On the mound, Chase Chappell started before Drake Hobgood and Aaron Holley bridged the middle innings. Jackson Pavone closed out the final three innings to earn the win, holding Pfeiffer in check down the stretch as the Bishops secured the series finale victory.
