Box Score 1 |
Box Score 2 Rocky Mount, NC - The N.C. Wesleyan softball team split a DH with the Guilford Quakers on Wednesday at Edge Field. The Battling Bishops would take game two thanks to a gem tossed by Morgan Aycock.
Game 1: North Carolina Wesleyan 4, Guilford 11Â
Wesleyan would find themselves in a less-than-ideal position after the first two innings as the Quakers brought around two batters to score to start the contest. Guilford later caught fire with the bats and held a commanding 5-0 lead in the 4th. Wesleyan would punch back in the bottom of the 4th and 5th innings thanks to a bomb by first basemen Makayla Simmons, who would later single in the 5th to drive home Lillie Baumbach. Ava Lowry would also single in the 5th for an RBI, but five Quaker runs in the top of the inning would be too much for the Bishops to overcome.Â
Game 2: North Carolina Wesleyan 2, Guilford 0Â
Game two of the twin bill would turn out to be a pitcher's dual with the only two Bishop runs coming by way of a wild pitch and an error. Sophomore Morgan Aycock came out in game two and pitched one of the best games in her young career. Getting her third win of the year, Aycock pitched a complete game shutout, striking out six batters while only giving up three hits in the 2-0 win.
