Five Bishops Earn CSC Academic All-District Baseball Honors

Greenwood, IN - North Carolina Wesleyan baseball is proud to announce that five of its student-athletes have been named to the 2025 Academic All-District Baseball Team, as selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC). The prestigious honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their outstanding performances both on the field and in the classroom.

Representing Wesleyan on this year's Academic All-District list are Drake Hobgood, Seth Jones, Jacob Trivette, Preston Workman, and Colin Scoggins.

Drake Hobgood, a junior pitcher from Henderson, North Carolina, appeared in sixteen games with nine starts during the 2025 season. He pitched 60.2 innings, recording 38 strikeouts and three wins. Hobgood finished the season with a 6.23 ERA and limited opposing hitters to a .304 batting average.

Seth Jones, a junior outfielder from New Smyrna Beach, Florida, started all 33 games he played in and hit .301 for the season. He totaled 31 hits, including eight doubles and a home run, while driving in nineteen runs and drawing 22 walks. Jones posted an impressive .442 on-base percentage.

Jacob Trivette, a sophomore outfielder from Greensboro, North Carolina, delivered a standout year with a .321 batting average over 34 games. He tallied 35 hits, including ten doubles and seven home runs, while driving in 23 runs. Trivette also reached base at a .437 clip.

Preston Workman, a junior pitcher from Claremont, North Carolina, made fourteen appearances with seven starts in 2025. He threw 53.1 innings and struck out 31 batters, compiling a 4.39 ERA. Workman earned two wins and one save while opponents batted .308 against him.

Colin Scoggins, a senior outfielder from Durham, North Carolina, was a reliable presence in the Bishops' lineup, starting 39 games and batting .300 on the year. He recorded 42 hits, including eight doubles and two home runs, with 22 RBI and 28 walks. Scoggins concluded the season with a .430 on-base percentage and provided steady defense in the outfield.

To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must meet rigorous academic and athletic standards, including maintaining a strong cumulative GPA while being a significant contributor to their team. These five Bishops now advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, with national honorees to be announced in the coming weeks.
