Bishop Men Roll Past Christopher Newport, 6-3

Newport News, Va. - North Carolina Wesleyan won five of six singles matches on Tuesday afternoon en route to a 6-3 victory over Christopher Newport University in USA South men's tennis action. Sophomore Robert Kjellberg was a three-set winner at the #2 slot and is currently ranked #24 in the nation, #7 in the region.

Joining Kjellberg as singles winners were Alexey Rumantsev at #3, Viktor Selander at #4, Fred Lemongo at #5 and Artsiom Prostak at #6.  All four won in straights.

The Bishops picked up their lone doubles point at the 3rd seed where Anton Filonov and Marcelo Prata teamed for an 8-3 victory.  CNU's Matt King and Eric Shulman, who are currently ranked 4th in the region, upset 3rd-ranked Kjellberg and Rumyantsev at the top slot, 8-3.

With Tuesday's win, NCWC (10-2, 3-0 USA South) extends its winning streak versus conference opponents to 27 matches dating back to the 2008-09 season. Next up, the Bishops will travel to Ferrum College on Saturday for a 1:00pm match versus the Panthers.
