Bishops Pound CNU in Women's Tennis Action, 7-2

Newport News, Va. - For the first time in program history, the North Carolina Wesleyan women's tennis team knocked off Christopher Newport University, doing so in convincing fashion on Tuesday afternoon with a dominating 7-2 victory.

The Bishops entered the match 0-13 all-time versus the Captains, who are currently ranked #15 regionally, but NCWC quickly showed that the tables had turned by sweeping doubles play. Samia Kacher and Kristin Seidel were 8-4 winners at the top seed, as were freshmen Yvonne Kamegne and Michelle Hart at #2. Tori Jones and Bristy Parker teamed for an 8-3 victory at the 3rd slot.

In singles play, it was more dominance by Wesleyan as Kamegne, Kacher, Jones and Parker were all straight-set winners at #1, #2, #5 and #6, respectively.  Kamegne, in fact, surrendered just two games at the top seed.

Having played an extremely tough schedule in the early going, the Bishops (4-7, 3-1 USA South) looked to have turned the corner and are now winners of three of their last four matches. NCWC travels to Ferrum College on Saturday for a 1:00pm match versus the Panthers.
