#24 Bishops Topple #17 Johns Hopkins in Men's Tennis, 6-3

Baltimore, Md. - The 24th-ranked N.C. Wesleyan men's tennis team picked up its second victory over a top-20 team on Thursday, knocking off 17th-ranked Johns Hopkins University by a 6-3 score on the road. The Bishops have now won 12 straight matches and stand at 15-3 overall.

Wesleyan took a 2-1 lead in doubles play as Ioannis Brokakis/Roberto Puig were 9-8 winners at the top seed and Sebastian Sikh/David Chang earned an 8-5 win at the #3 position. The Bishops narrowly missed a sweep, but Hopkins' Joe Cartledge/Austin Gu salvaged a point at the #2 seed with a 9-8 win over NCWC's Aditya Iyer/J.D. Telles.

In singles play, Brokakis cruised to a 6-3, 6-1 win at #3 before JHU's Justin Kang made the match 3-2 with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at #6. Sikh got NCWC to within a point of the win with a  6-4, 6-2 win at the top slot, while Iyer's 6-2, 7-6 win over Gu at #5 sealed the team win for the Bishops. Hopkins managed its final point at #3, with Puig earning a 6-2, 6-7, 10-6 win at #4 to provide the 6-3 final.

Wesleyan wraps up its regular season schedule this weekend with a home match versus Pfeiffer University on Saturday, followed by the team's USA South finale on Sunday at Averett.
