Women's Tennis Shuts Out Peace for First Win

RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College women's tennis team defeated William Peace 6-0 for their first win of the season on the road Wednesday afternoon.

The women were led by singles wins from sophomore Elisa Mariotti at the #1 spot, freshman Isabella Gastelumendi at the #2 spot and senior Chandler Brice at the 3 spot. Mariotti won 6-1, 6-1, Isabella won 6-3, 6-0 and Brice shutout her foe 6-0, 6-0 while Miguelina Paiva won by forfeit at the 4 spot.

In doubles, Mariotti and Gastelumendi teamed up to win 8-3 at the top spot while Brice and Paiva won by forfeit at the 2 spot of doubles.

The Lady Bishops improve to 1-5 overall and 1-1 in conference while WPU falls to 1-3 and 1-2 in conference.

Wesleyan will next be in action next Wednesday at 2 PM at Methodist.
